Artist Shang Qi shares the scariest Marvel concept art yet

Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings Push fans straight into the mysterious part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that has been introduced so far. Simu Liu acting in an eponymous role, shang chi He gave fans multiple dragons, even dipping his toes in horror at the introduction of the image’s primary antagonist.

If you’ve watched the flick, you now know that Dweller-in-Darkness has been joined by hordes of soul-sucking monsters that have engulfed the mysterious city of Ta Lo, stealing the souls of its mother-in-law. As it turned out, soul-sucking demons could have been even more terrifying. On Tuesday, visual development artist Grad Marantz shared some early concepts of the creatures, making them look like zombie centaurs.

“This is one of my favorite unused creatures Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten RingsMarantz said in another Instagram post. It was during a period of slightly blue skies, trying to figure out what the first wave of demons battling the villagers would look like. Not many people realize that filmmaking is a very organic process, and as we design the script it is being improved, so assignment parameters can change at any time.”

The artist went on to explain this version of the dragon’s followers who would actually fight in hand-to-hand combat with the people of Ta Lu.

“In this pass I was working on a version that would fight alongside villagers and be able to fly and crawl as well,” Marantz added. “Lots of fun! Incredible time working with the team at Marvel Visual Development and Team Leader, my friend Andy Park.”
