Basically, from what he tells us, this was supposed to be the opening sequence for his sequel…until it didn’t. Trevorrow explained:
This is the beginning of the movie. This is the first five minutes. And it always was, until we got to a point, I would say a year ago, when it started to turn out to be the first long chapter. Because we were doing two parallel stories at the same time where everyone needed the rhythms of the first act inside of them. To be honest, it was heartbreaking. For me, that’s the first five minutes of the movie. And one day, I know people will have a chance to see it that way.
Instead, once you decide it Jurassic World: Dominion No longer in use on the movie theater scene when it opened, Trevorrow and Universal made the decision to release it online, as well as in theaters attached to select prints, so fans could at least appreciate it in some formats.
