Redfall Confirms Disappointing Co-Op Feature

Bethesda has confirmed a somewhat disappointing feature that will appear in the co-op side of its 2023 game Redvale. As of this past weekend, Bethesda and developer Arkane Studios have given fans a taste of actual gameplay. Redvale. And while the game itself looked pretty fun overall, it looks like the experience will omit a key feature in co-op that certainly won’t please many fans.

In short, Arkan emphasized in an interview with IGN Redfall will only allow the host player’s story progression during co-op play. This means that only the person hosting the session that other players are joining will be able to move forward in the game. Those who join the host will eventually be able to get new weapons and levels, but they won’t be able to develop the story or other quests found in their own world.

“Whoever hosts the session, starts the session, they [story] Progress continues for them, but [for] Other people are not.” Redvale Creative Director Harvey Smith. “Your character advances, like any weapons you find, any levels you gain, it all continues.” But as far as the missions you have unlocked and so on, the host, your progress is significant. If you log in with your friend and they are in the middle of the game and you play the second half of the game with them, and then you come back and want to play alone, you start at the beginning of the themed campaign.”

As mentioned, this is something that has a number of potential Redvale Players will certainly find disagreements. Although we’ve seen this style of co-op play in the past, it’s still hard to tell that campaign progress won’t transfer to all players during co-op. Whether this is something Arkane might look to change in the future is currently unknown, but we’ll be sure to let you know if such an announcement comes out.

Redvale It still doesn’t have a release date, but it’s slated for a release sometime in the first half of 2023. When it comes out, it will hit both Xbox Series X and PC.
