Dragon Ball Creator Reveals Why Namekians Have Headaches

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero Set to hit theaters in North America in August, Piccolo is set to have one of the biggest roles in the film that will see the return of the Red Ribbon Army. With the most powerful Namekian of Universe 7 on the verge of receiving a new transformation that could put him on a level playing field with Goku and Vegeta for the first time in a long time, the creator of the Shonen franchise has revealed that the Namekian race is giving him and an extended headache over why this is happening.

Akira Toriyama was with Dragon Ball A decades-old series, it goes back to writing the latest entry in the anime series with the new movie that sees Goku and Vegeta on the sidelines as they train outside the world with the legendary Super Saiyan Broly. In a recent interview to help promote the movie, Toriyama revealed that Piccolo is actually the mangaka’s favorite character and delves into the history of the green-skinned melee while also stating that the former Demon Lord definitely has a “complicated past,” as spoilers have started circulating around the internet thanks to the Super Hero release. In Japan, expect some big changes for Piccolo that are sure to change the course Dragon Ball Super Move forward.

Toriyama breaks down the different types of Namekians while also acknowledging that the “mysterious race” is causing him some headaches as there are, apparently, many details yet to be revealed when it comes to the aliens responsible for the creation of the Dragon Balls:

“Most Nemecians are wise types and fighting types like Piccolo are rare. They are still a very mysterious race, so they can be a nuisance even to me, I’m the original creator.”

While Toriyama may not be practical in the manga’s current storyline, artist Toyotaro stated that the Dragon Ball creator still has plenty of advice, and the last say, when it comes to story telling that takes place. For example, Toriyama was a huge fan of the current Heeters of the Granolah Arc, leading them to take a major role in the latest story.
