Officials release update on Summer Wells missing one year after his disappearance

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation released an update on the missing Summer Wells one year after her disappearance, Fox News reports.

Five-year-old Summer Wells disappeared in the evening of June 15, 2021, and the investigation into her discovery is still active.

Update in Summer Wells

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation released a statement regarding Summer Wells’ case one year after she disappeared from her home. The five-year-old was nowhere to be found when her mother returned from gardening with her grandmother, Fox News reports.

Summer is last seen outside her home on block 100 of Ben Hill Road in Rogersville, Tennessee on June 15, 2021.

Last year, officials interviewed 170 witnesses, and continually searched the property and its surroundings by land and air. They used drones and divers to search the area.

They also reviewed digital evidence and the investigation involved 100 agents, intelligence analysts and other employees.

in press releaseTBI said the investigation remains active and ongoing. This week, authorities returned to Hawkins County “as part of a planned research focusing on pre-identified areas of concern.”

“In addition, clients and investigators continue to pursue potential clients,” their statement continued.

Officials have asked people with first-hand information about the girl’s disappearance to call 1-800-TBI-FIND.

The press release added that Mount Carmel Friwell Baptist Church was used as the site of three large-scale searches.

The girl’s father shares a heartbreaking statement

The girl’s father, Don Wells, released a heartbreaking letter on the first anniversary of Summer’s tragic disappearance.

By going to Don Wells Family Official YouTube channel, he uploaded a six-minute video in which he said:

“Since you left I have been completely broken. I have looked for you everywhere, my beautiful girl! I thought U-Tube would be the most powerful tool to help find you, and maybe still is, but at a price we might not be able to afford, our family might not survive!”

He continued, “So I ask God, I hope you look at my dear daughter, we love her so much! We belong to God help us as the boys bring her back. I will be very happy to be a family again!”

Authorities said that while they appreciate the community’s help, they have asked people not to send advice as a result of information seen in a YouTube video or other online posts.

“Going forward, we ask the public not to submit tips as a result of a video you saw on YouTube or a theory you saw posted on Facebook,” TBI asked the audience.

“Please help us and only contact us if you have direct and specific information about the disappearance of summer.”
