Chris Hemsworth thought the role of ghost hunters would “ruin” his career

“I said to Paul, ‘There’s not much on the page, like, ‘What do you want me to do?'” ‘ He said, ‘Oh, we’ll find out when you get here,'” Hemsworth revealed GQ from experience. And I said, ‘Well, why not? Let’s go. And I got there, and I went to the studio the day before shooting started and he handed me the script. I read the script and said, ‘There’s still something here.’ Like, what do I do?”

He added, “He said, ‘It’s okay, we’ll improvise and have fun.’ And my immediate reaction was, ‘Not only is this the end of my career, I’m going to spoil this movie. I’m going to let everyone down, I’ve never done this before. What do I do?'”

“Then I met Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, the whole crew, the cast, and I became more comfortable having such a sense of camaraderie and cooperation there at play. They took me under their wing and we just went on this adventure, this strange adventure of figuring out who this character is” , the representative explained. “It became so much fun. It became about trying not to laugh, trying to make the other person laugh. It reminded me of a drama class or going back to high school. I thought, ‘I want to take that into everything he did.'”
