Nerf’s new mascot morph is already spooking the internet

Nerf has influenced the toy world for generations, ever since the toy brand first entered the scene in 1969. While the company’s plastic toys and foam darts have become ubiquitous, the brand hasn’t really had a mascot – and they decided to change that in an unusual way. somewhat predictable. On Friday, Nerf revealed its first look at Murph, an anthropomorphic figure who will now serve as the company’s official mascot. Morph, who uses their non-binary pronouns, is a character whose body is made entirely of Nerf arrows.

“We wanted to provide a talisman that represents this lasting, unparalleled pleasure that lives in all of us and creates the physical embodiment of that feeling you get when you play with Nerf,” Adam Kleinman, senior vice president and general manager for Nerf at parent company Hasbro, said in a statement. “Nerf understands that while screens are great, there is still a need for children and their parents to get out, get active, and make memories.”

Created in partnership with advertising agency The Martin Agency, Murph is set to begin appearing in Nerf ads, retail outlets and social media channels later this month. Merv’s debut will be part of a multi-year marketing campaign called “Unleash The Play In You”.

The unveiling of the Merv has already sparked the Internet, with the funky mascot sparking a wide range of reactions on social media. They’ve already drawn comparisons with all sorts of crypto, been tossed in a hypothetical beef with the now-famous Philadelphia Flyers mascot Gritty, and met with specific questions about their physiology. Here are a few of those reactions.
