Nintendo faces a new reaction with the Switch Joy-Con Drift

Nintendo is dealing with more backlash due to an ongoing “drift” issue associated with the Switch’s Joy-Con controllers. Since the Switch first launched in 2017, owners have reported issues with thumb sticks associated with their consoles affecting in-game gameplay. The problem was so pervasive that Nintendo was facing multiple lawsuits for selling defective hardware as a result. And while there have been no major findings with these cases so far, one group in the UK is now urging Nintendo to explore the problem in a new way.

British organization called “Which?” He recently pushed Nintendo to open a new independent investigation linked to the Joy-Con drift. In the past, Nintendo has claimed to have looked into the issue internally, but has not hired an external entity to see how widespread the issue is. According to a survey conducted by Which? Many users who experience drifting, the group said, don’t end up contacting Nintendo about the problem, and instead, they just go to buy new consoles experiencing the same error.

Which he said? Director Rossio Concha on this issue. “Nintendo needs to commission an urgent, independent investigation into why this issue occurred and make the results public. The video game giant should also commit to making absolutely free repairs or replacements to people affected by the issue and should strengthen this scheme so that consumers know support is available.”

In response to this installment of Which?, Nintendo hasn’t said much on the matter. The Japanese video game manufacturer has continued to claim that Joy-Con Drifting is an issue that affects only a “small” number of users. Furthermore, it has been said that improvements have continued to the Joy-Cons since their debut over five years ago. And while that last point may be true, it didn’t stop the Joy-Con drift from being a constant annoyance for many Switch owners around the world in 2022.

Have you been having your own issues with drifting on Joy-Cons with your Nintendo Switch? And what do you think of Nintendo’s own response this time around? Let me know for yourself either in the comments or connect with me on Twitter at Trustworthy.
