Back to the future Heading to Broadway. The West End musical, inspired by the popular 1985 movie of the same name, is set to open on Broadway in 2023. The announcement was made by the official Back to the Future Twitter account on Wednesday with a short teaser clip and a link to sign even for ” First access and priority ticket information. Back to the Future: The Musical Previews premiered at the Manchester Opera House in Manchester, England on February 20, 2020, before having to close on March 16 of the same year due to COVID-19. The musical later reopened at the Adelphi Theater in London’s West End where it opened on September 13, 2021. The musical will run there until October 23 before moving to Broadway next year.

The Back to the future Musical features Music and lyrics by Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard along with Bob Gill’s book, adapted from the original screenplay by Robert Zemeckis and Gill. The musical went on to receive 7 Laurence Olivier Award nominations, including Best New Music (which it won) as well as Best Original Music or New Orchestra.
“Bob Zemeckis and I have been trying to launch this project for years, but good things take time, and finally, it’s time,” Jill said of the musical previously. “Our cast is great, the songs are great, and director John Rando does an amazing job ensuring that the show truly captures the magic of the movie. We’re thrilled to be able to retell our story on stage in a whole new way, and we’re sure Back to the Future fans around the world will love it. They will share our enthusiasm. In the words of Marty McFly, “Your kids will love it”—and so will you and your parents.”
The music’s official description is as follows: “Welcome to Hill Valley! When Marty McFly finds himself transported to 1955 in a time machine built by eccentric scientist Doc Brown, he accidentally changes the course of history. Now he’s in a race against the time To mend the present, escape from the past and send oneself… to the future.”
