What happened to Sloan in season 3 of The Umbrella Academy

***Warning: Spoilers throughout Season 3 of The Umbrella Academy***

Since The Umbrella Academy first appeared on our screens in 2019, the series has made plenty of twists and turns — from the end of the universe and time travel to the mysterious arrival of Sparrow Academy.

Season 3 is no different than the Umbrellas facing off against their new Sparrow rivals only to form an unlikely alliance to battle the destructive power of the Kugelblitz.

In the final moments of Season 3, the gang manages to reset the universe, destroying the Kugelblitz and returning everyone to a new safe and sound timeline.

However, not everyone is present in this new timeline as Sloane Hargreeves appears to be missing, leaving Umbrella Academy fans asking what happened to the character.

Who is Sloan at Umbrella Academy?

Sloan is a newcomer to Season 3 as she is one of the members of the Sparrow Academy.

Played by Genesis Rodriguez, she has the ability to manipulate gravity, allowing her and others to fly.

Unlike the other Sparrow members, who are cold and aggressive towards parachutes, Sloane is more extroverted and immediately loves Luther during the two-group fight in Episode 1.

As the season progresses, the sparrows and parachutes finally decide to work with each other to stop the devastating Kugelblitz, who are in the process of destroying the universe.

Knowing that their time is limited, Luther and Sloan agree to marry, and Episode 8 ends with their impromptu witch wedding.

However, their relationship takes a dramatic turn when Reginald secretly kills Luther in Episode 9.

The last moments of season 3

Episode 10 ends with the surviving members of the Umbrella and Sparrow academies discovering the secrets of the Obsidian Hotel, and with Reginald’s help, they can reset the universe and escape the Kugelblitz.

The act led to the arrival of the Umbrella Academy on a new schedule, and entry through the doors in the courtyard where the hotel had previously been.

Each member arrives at the yard unharmed, with Fife and Diego recovering their missing arm and fingers respectively while even Luther has been brought back from the dead and is no longer a large ape man.

However, not everything is as it should, as the gang quickly acts to not have their powers while Luther notes that his wife, Sloan, is nowhere to be seen.

Theory: What could happen to Sloan at Umbrella Academy

Sloan may still be in this new timeline but she won’t be the same person Luther fell in love with.

We can draw that conclusion from the mid-credits scene at the end of Episode 10, which shows that there is a penny in this new timeline – one brought from the original timeline and the other who lived in this new world all his life.

The scene shows a new Ben on a train in Seoul, South Korea, which is where he originally belongs, implying that he was not recruited by Reginald into the Umbrella or Sparrow academies in this timeline.

As a result, this means that a copy of Sloane will be somewhere in the world as well but won’t be the same person who was recruited into the Sparrows and who married Luther.

“But what happened to the original Sloan?” We hear you ask. Well, there are two possibilities.

Original Sloane was either moved to this new schedule separately from the rest of the group, similar to the way Allison arrived home to meet Claire and Ray.

or The original Sloane was killed while being transferred to this new timeline. Don’t forget that Allison made a deal with Reginald to help him carry out his plan to reset the universe, and the possible case of that shady deal would have been to secretly murder Sloan in the process.
