Earlier this year, Marvel Comics announced that Spider-Verse architect Dan Slott would be returning to the multiverse for the last time, officially ending “Spider-Verse” with a new story titled The Edge of Spider-Verse. Across the five-issue limited series, House of Ideas will introduce all-new Spider-heroes and redefine some of the fan favorites like Araña, Spider-Man Noir, Spider-Gwen and Spider-Man: India. Marvel Comics has now confirmed that one of the new Spider heroes will make their comic debut, revealing that Spider-Rex, a dinosaur version of a wall crawler, will make its debut in the series.
Spider-Rex will appear in August spider edge verse #1, from a story by Spider-Woman creative team Karla Pacheco and Pere Perez. Spider-Red will also appear on a different cover of the Leinil Francis Yu series, which you can find below. Each edition of Edge of Spider-Verse will contain three stories with an extensive narrative by Dan Slott that will serve as the conclusion to Spider-Verse. Alex Segura and Dustin Weaver will join Slot and Pacheco in writing the new series. Martin Kokolo, Cayo Magado, Perez Perez and Dustin Weaver will star in the series.
“Marvel has decided to do the unimaginable, go big, and bring the Spider-Verse comic book saga to a fiery conclusion,” Slott previously shared with ribbed. “Yes, that’s right. Later this year we will all witness the end of the spider!”
When asked if the end of spider verse Truly the end of Spider-Verse, Slott couldn’t help but gleefully mock at how death isn’t the end of the comics world. “If you ask me, that’s crazy,” Sloot said excitedly. “Why are they doing this? Why? They could have milked this spider cow for decades. However, if you are going to do that, doing everything in the glare of glory is definitely the way to go!”
