Although the happy post in the finale The bachelorette In season eighteen, Michelle Young and fiancé Nate Olukuya quit after just about six months. Young and Olukoya shared the news via Instagram, explaining that while they have love for each other, they are going their separate ways.
Which begs the question: Did Michelle keep the ring?
according to BA imitation, no. many of BA/Bachelorette Contestants have spoken in the past about the details of the contract they signed before joining the show, and have shared that if couples break up within two years of the end, they must return their ring. but, If they manage to achieve this within the past two years, the brilliance is theirs to keep.
So which couples got their rings? There are plenty of contestants and winners who haven’t been together for two years – but what about those who stuck with it long enough to hang on to those jewels?
Without further ado, here are five pairs of The BA A franchise that crossed the two-year mark and kept its rings, despite never really finding its happiness after that — and ten didn’t even come close.
Engaged couples who can keep the ring
Byron and Mary – The Bachelor Season Six (5 years)
This couple from the early days of BSC They stayed together for five years. It wasn’t a perfect happy ending – Marie Delgado was arrested for assaulting Byron Velvic in 2007.
Allie and Roberto – The Bachelorette Season 6 (18 months)
This is controversial. Allie Fedotowsky and Roberto Martinez didn’t cross the two-year mark – but when producers came to retrieve the ring from Fedotowsky, she refused to return it.
Claiming 18 months was long enough to keep the ring, she’s convinced BA Team to let her keep it anyway. I highly doubt that would happen today, but since the show was in its early years, the producers made an exception.
Ashley and JB – The Bachelor Season 7 (8 years)
Ashley Heibert and JB Rosenbaum were once considered to be one of the most successful personalities BA The privilege of couples of all time. They even got married on TV as part of a BA Private TV. However, the couple announced their divorce in October of 2020. They still share parenthood together.
Eight years is still an impressive relationship though, especially from before BA Standards. They pass the loop item with flying colors.
Kaitlyn and Shawn – Season 11 (3 years)
Caitlin Bristow is a seasoned veteran of the Bachelor franchise – she was a contestant on BSC starred in The bacheloretteand even stepped up to some hosting duties after removing Chris Harrison from the role.
Unfortunately for Bristow, she Bachelorette The journey did not end with marriage. She and her eleventh season winner, Sean Booth, split in 2018, Bristow cited “important core values” As one of the reasons why they can’t see eye to eye.
Carly and Evan – Bachelor in Paradise Season 3 (4 years old)
Carly Waddell and Evan Bass Engaged Bachelor in Heaven And he married soon after. They even have two kids together!
Despite being one of The Bachelor’s favorite couples, Carly and Evan separated after three years of marriage. They tried to make it work, even attending couples therapy, but eventually publicly announced their separation in 2020. We’ll likely never know the full story behind their downfall, but we do know that they lasted long enough to get over this hidden item.
Engaged couples who couldn’t keep the ring
Jesse and Jessica – The Bachelor Season 5 (1 month)
Most people know this trend BA Host Jesse Palmer was the same bachelor that day. But did you know that his relationship with winner Jessica Paulin only lasted a month?
There wasn’t any episode involved, because Jesse didn’t propose to him during their finale, but it’s not like they were going to keep it anyway.
Juan Pablo and Nikki – The Bachelor Season 18 (7 months)
With his reputation as one of the worst singles of all time, it’s no surprise that BA Juan Pablo Galavis, Season 18, never found his true love on the show. While he chose to give his last paper to Nikki Ferrell, the two split after just seven months.
Not even VH1’s Couples Therapy He could save this doomed relationship, so the couple went their separate ways.
Chris & Whitney – The Bachelor Season 19 (six months)
While the exact timeline of this relationship is unknown, Chris Souls and Whitney Bischoff certainly didn’t make it down the aisle. After an alleged engagement of six months, the couple separated.
It might be for the better, as Chris Souls was arrested in 2017 To flee the scene of a car accident where a person was killed.
Ben And Lauren – The Bachelor Season 20 (1 year, 2 months)
Sure, Ben Higgins and Lauren Bushnell put influence into that two-year pact, but opted to split after just over a year engaged. To answer the question asked on Freeform’s reality show Couple, Ben and Lauren: Happiness Forever?: no. Unfortunately, it was never happy after that. No ring for you, Lauren.
According to Ben, The relationship ended long before the split became official. Having a camera crew documenting your every move probably isn’t the best way to create a love affair, after all.
Nick and Vanessa – The Bachelor Season 21 (5 months)
Like Kaitlyn Bristowe, Nick Viall has been around BA Ban several times. He was a contestant in The bachelorette Twice, appeared in Bachelor in Heaven Before returning as a major BSC season 21.
Nick’s Experience BA The game did not help his relationship with Vanessa Grimaldi, and The two ended their engagement Less than six months after the end. Not even Allie Fedotowsky could convince the producers to let the woman keep a five-month engagement ring.
Colton & Cassie – The Bachelor Season 23 (1 year, 2 months)
This is no surprise: BA Colton Underwood hasn’t found the woman of his dreams BSC. While his relationship with winner Cassie Randolph lasted for over a year, Colton came out as gay in April of 2021, during an interview with good morning america. His appearance in the Netflix reality series has been documented, Colton comes out.
Good for Colton! Neither spouse can keep this ring.
Hannah B. The Good – The Bachelorette Season 15 (5 weeks)
The bachelorette Princess Hannah Brown has chosen Jed Wyatt to win her 15th season. However, the dreamy romance ended, when rumors began to surface that Wyatt had only attended the show to further his music career and he also had a girlfriend at home waiting for him the entire time he was on the show.
This obviously wasn’t good for him, and The former beauty pageant winner ended the relationship in a matter of weeks.
Claire and Dale – The Bachelorette Season 16 (???)
Ah, Claire Crowley and Dale Moss. They single-handedly created the most chaotic season The bacheloretteAnd, again, the relationship has once again been the source of much speculation since the pair left the show together only a few episodes into Claire’s season.
I suspect Claire had to return the ring after their first breakup, but did she get it back when they got back together? Mostly not. The couple are allegedly separated now, which means it’s not even been two years since Crowley’s season premiere The bachelorette. It’s possible that the producers took the ring back, assuming Claire didn’t do something as brutal as burning it as a doll.
Tayshia and Zac – The Bachelor Season 16 (1 year)
This is really heartbreaking for me. Tayshia Adams, who appeared BSC Before taking Clare Crawley’s place in season 16 of The bachelorette, is in an uncomfortable position as co-host of Katie Thurston’s season. during the Guys say it allco-host Caitlin Bristow asked Adams why she wasn’t wearing her ring, after which Adams broke down in tears from the stage, letting fans in on the fact that she and Zack Clark were no longer engaged.
There are a lot of moments written in BSCBut Taisha’s reaction seemed quite real. This is one pair I really hope they’ll be able to hit the driveway before things go south.
Katie and Blake – Season 17 (6 months)
Katie and Greg – sorry, I mean Katie Thurston and Blake Moines – left season 17 of The bachelorette They are engaged, but it was announced shortly thereafter that they are no longer together. Then Bachelor Katy shocked the nation by making her new relationship with Bachelor franchise John Hersey public during her “12 Days of Mayhem” posting spree on Instagram.
There seems to be a bit of bad blood between Katie and Blake, who was “disappointed” because she didn’t discuss her new relationship with him before it was released to the public. Sorry Katie. This ring is definitely a must return.
next one BA The franchise season airs on ABC in July, which will be the first season of The bachelorette With two leads for the entire season. Shall we add more happy couples to the list BA Contestants who kept their rings? Or will we have to send another Neil Lane diamond to the Cemetery of the Rings?
Previous seasons of BSCAnd the The bacheloretteAnd the Bachelor in Heaven Available to stream with a Hulu subscription.
