AEW’s Forbidden Door sees the sting entering impressively

AEW Forbidden Door already had some big moments in its first match, but it looks like one of the biggest members of All Elite Wrestling was ready to kick off a match that saw Sting, Darby Allin and Los Ingobernables de Japan take on El Phantasmo, Hikuleo and The Young Bucks. With Sting currently in his 60s, the star who has made a name for himself over decades as one of the greats has ushered in the eras that began a wild match between the representatives of AEW and New Japan.

Sting has enjoyed a long and legendary career in countless wrestling organizations and perhaps his most famous matches take place within WCW, also known as World Championship Wrestling. When the company was eventually acquired by WWE, Sting pursued his career, eventually finding his way to AEW where he would spend most of the time with Darby and take part in a number of matches. But with tonight’s match, he was able to show his stuff once again and how he still manages to hold onto his years of experience in his 60s, making him a threat in the ring.

The official AEW Twitter account shared the stunning entry from Sting to surprise his opponents, as the wrestling legend and his allies declared victory in the mega match:

In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Sting said this about his current career with AEW and some of the big names he works with:

“I never thought I’d come back here like that. I thought I’d just disappear from wrestling, and I didn’t like the thought of it. Then I came to AEW, and originally, we were going to explore movie matches and I walked into the ring and I can still hear Cody [Rhodes] She tells me about my kinetic energy and that I can wrestle a match. I was like, “Relax now, Cody.” Then I heard Darby say, “Steve, you can do that.” This entire stretch, now back in Greensboro, was all surreal. CM Punk, it’s really amazing to me. Hearing the fans’ response to it made me turn back the clock and think about all the different and memorable reactions over the years to different wrestlers. I’ve been especially thinking about The Road Warriors. The animal was really big at that. He’d say, “This guy got huge pop, but he wasn’t one of the ‘Road Warrior pop’ bands. That’s what Punk gets.”
