Obi-Wan’s original plans were for a movie trilogy

years ago Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi The series debuted, with a movie focused on the reclusive Jedi master being developed, only for the project to hit some snags, be reimagined, and eventually develop into the recently completed TV series. However, project writer Stuart Beattie recently mentioned that the original plan for Kenobi’s big-screen adventure was for a trio of movies rather than a single adventure. At the time, Lucasfilm’s slate of Star Wars films was growing at an ever-increasing rate, with the director also confirming that the studio was on board to develop the entire trilogy, before reimagining the project as a whole as a TV series.

“When I showed my Obi-Wan story to Lucasfilm, I said, ‘There are actually three stories here. Because there are three different evolutions a character must make in order to go from Obi-Wan to Ben,” direct. And the first was the first movie, which was the show, which was, ‘Succumb to the will to power. Transfer your will, and surrender to your will. Leave the child alone. “So, the second [movie] He was thinking about where Kenobi would end up. And one of the strongest and perhaps the most powerful moments in the entire Obi-Wan story is the moment he sacrificed himself in… New hope. The great moment, you know, makes you cry. But, if you stop and think about it, it will be very surprising, to fight a man of sorts, to see Luke and go, “I’m going to die.” You know, that to me, it takes forethought. It requires pre-acceptance that this is going to happen.”

He continued, “It’s one of those universal things that we all struggle with, to come to terms with our own mortality. So, this was the second step of evolution for me, as Obi-Wan now has to come to terms with what has mortality, somehow in a prophecy, or say His Qui-Gon, “A moment will come when you will have to sacrifice yourself for good,” then [Obi-Wan] Like “What? No, no, no, no, I’m here to help… I can’t, no. And carry him to that point where Obi-Wan accepted the idea that he was going to die, that he would die voluntarily at a crucial moment, and you would know when that moment would come. So when That moment comes [A New Hope], you understand. He realizes that he has already been on this journey, and is waiting for this moment, that way he can do it easily. to do this [sacrifice], and died. So for me this was the second development, the second movie, and the second story.”

All the minds behind the series confirmed that the first season was destined to be a defining journey rather than just the start of a long-running project, but the season finale definitely opened the door for more adventures. Betty himself admitted, “For me, if I had anything to do with the second season of Obi-Wan, that is the character development I would be doing. That, to me, is really interesting. And like I said, my world.”

If the next two arcs in the plan, whether in live motion or some other medium, are fulfilled, they are not yet to be seen. Stay tuned for details on the possible future of Obi-Wan Kenobi’s adventures.
