The release date for the first season of the upcoming Netflix anime adaptation of Bastard: Heavy Metal Dark Fantasy has now been confirmed.
Netflix is set to have a massive second part of the year in terms of animated content in 2022, including Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Kakegurui Twin, and more.
However, not many upcoming anime titles have as much hype, legacy and anticipation as the latest adaptation of Kazushi Hagiwara’s popular manga series. bastard child!!
The classic Bastard series in the eyes of many fans will become one of the most swing anime titles on Netflix this year, so what do we know so far and when Heavy Metal and Dark Fantasy will be released worldwide?
Bastard!!: Heavy Metal, Dark Fantasy, is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Kazushi Hagiwara that began serializing in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 1988, and has released a total of 27 combined volumes. Across Until 2012.
The series tells the story of Dark Schneider, a very powerful wizard who awakens after declaring war in the kingdom of Meta-Ilicana, the location of the majority of Bastard!!.
However, with the four powerful kingdoms on the continent uniting to keep the Dark Schneider away from complete domination and a new mysterious force threatening the entire planet, who will save (or destroy) the world?

Bastard!! The Heavy Metal series, Dark Fantasy is one of the best-selling manga series of all time, with over 30 million sold. Copied By 2008 – puts this series on par with the likes of Black Butler, Death Note, Fruits Basket, One-Punch Man and TenSura!
However, the series didn’t actually end when the latest single chapter was released in 2010, so technically it has been classified as on hiatus for the past 12 years, a lot Such as Berserk and Hunter x Hunter were also rated at the time (although both series have since received an appeal to publish). The new 24-episode series is being produced by Liden Films, the production company behind the likes of Tokyo Revengers, Berserk, Cells at Work and Build Divide: Code Black.
Bastard season 1 part 1 will the first show With 13 episodes on Thursday, June 30 on the following international dates:
- Pacific Time – 12 AM
- Eastern Time – 3 AM
- British time – 8 am
- European time – 9 am
- India Time – 12:30 PM
- Philippines time – 3 pm
- Australian Central Time – 4.30 pm
Interestingly, the new anime adaptation will be split into two separate parts, with episodes 14 through 24 releasing by the end of the year — although the exact release date remains TBA domestically in Japan and internationally on Netflix.
Directed by Takaharu Ozaki, who has worked on the likes of Goblin Slayer, Persona 5, Girls’ Last Tour, and Takt Op. fate. The script was written by Yōsuke Kuroda (Goblin Slayer), the character designs by Sayaka Ono (Code Geass), and the soundtrack by Yasuharu Takanashi (Fairy Tail).
Cauldrin will perform the opening theme called “Bloody Power Fame” and Tielle will perform the ending theme, “Blessless”.
