When I first heard about Shmegadon! Back in 2021, I had no idea I’d end up getting caught in the original Apple TV+ series so quickly, but then the first episode fell off and I fell like a fish in bait. I loved the atmosphere, the fun songs and of course the amazing Shmegadon! ejaculate. But once it was over, I found myself feeling sad because it was over. I didn’t know if a second season would come.
Now here we are, however, season two has finally been confirmed!
Fans of the show may be wondering what exactly the plot will be like, or who will return for next season. Don’t worry about your little musical heads, readers, because these are five quick things we know about Shmegadon! season 2.
There is no exact release date for Schmigadoon! season 2
As expected due to the recent announcement, there is no exact date for Shmegadon! Season 2. It’s no surprise, given that as of this writing in June 2022, the news for the second season has only just been announced. Hopefully it won’t be long before we get a release date.
While he, most likely, will not be on any 2022 TV scheduleI’d say it’s a safe bet that Season 2 will likely drop next year, in 2023.
Season 2 will be a parody of the 60’s and 70’s music
I’ve always been a big fan of Classic movie musicalsIt was originally one of the biggest draws in the world Shmegadon! For me, because I loved the idea of a modern couple going back in time and suddenly breaking into this weird world of old musicals. But, season two will not go back to the style of the 40s and 50s anymore.
No, this time, we’re going to the 60’s and 70’s, baby!
According to an announcement from diverseThe second season of the popular Apple TV + original will parody the world of 1960s and ’70s musicals in the “Schmicago” world.
The possibilities are endless for this. There are a lot of famous musicals from these two decades that can be parodied on this show right now, from Mary Poppins to, of course, Chicago. And I personally can’t wait to see what happens—but we do know one thing for sure: Feathers will be involved, according to Cecily Strong.
In an interview given by Strong and Lorne Michaels, one of the show’s producers diverse, She confirmed the upcoming season’s timeline — and that she loves her wardrobe:
Cecily Strong and Keegan-Michael Key will be back
As you can already tell me by bringing up Cecily Strong in the previous section, it was emphasized in Variety’s ad that Strong and her Funny co-star Keegan Michael Key, will return to Shmegadon! season 2.
Last season showed their characters Melissa and Josh, trapped in the world of Schmigadoon! And the only way for them to find their way into the real world is to find true love – whether it’s with another person or each other, leading to a musical adventure.
While it seemed as if everything had gone well for them at the end of Season 1, one can’t help but wonder what drove the pair to Schmicago, and how that would affect the way forward in their relationship.
The two stars are clearly excited to be back on set and filming the next part of their story. Key himself posted a picture of his trailer Instagram Page, saying he was “so excited” to be back and working for him Shmegadon! season 2.
Cecily herself also spoke about her partnership with Key in her interview with Variety, saying that she had always had him in mind for the role opposite her, and that he was the perfect choice:
I’m so excited to see these two get back together in Season 2 – and I’m excited to see what awaits them in Chicago.
The rest of Schmigadon! The main cast will be back
While the main story seems to transport the actors to a different world known as Schmicago, it has been confirmed that everyone will be back for a second round of fun musical numbers and crazy costumes in Shmegadon! Season 2, as reported by Variety.
This includes Ariana Debus (World Health Organization Oscar winner 2022) as Emma Tate, Kristen Chenoweth Like Mildred Leighton, Cameron pigeon like Betsy McDonough, Jaime Camille like Jorge Lopez, Alan Cumming Like Mayor Aloysius Menloff, Ann Harada Like Florence Menlove, Jane Krakowski Like Gabriele Von Blerkom, Martin Short Like Leprechaun and Aaron Tveit Like Danny Bailey.
The only two original cast members whose return has not been confirmed are Fred Armisen (who played Reverend Howard Leighton) and William Koering Nkeni (who was Emma’s son, Carson)
Titus Burgess and Patrick Page also joined the cast
While we already have a file stacked Cast on this list, we already have two great additions confirmed Shmegadon! Season 2. Variety’s announcement confirmed that Titus Burgess and Patrick Page will join the cast.
The details of their characters haven’t been revealed yet, but I can only imagine what they would be like. Patrick Page has starred in many stunning Broadway roles, as well as starring as Hades in Hudstown Tony Award Winner The Grinch in How the Grinch Stole Christmas Norman Osborne / Green Goblin V Spider-Man: Turn off the darkness. He also had smaller roles in several films and TV shows.
Titus Burgess is probably best known for his Emmy-nominated role as Titus Andromedon in Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt on Netflix, but has appeared on many other TV shows as well, Such as central ParkAnd the He even starred as Rooster Hannigan as part of Annie Live! ejaculate.
Really, the second season of Shmegadon! It already looks great, and I can only imagine how much news we’ll get as filming continues and we get to know more. If you don’t See Shmegadon! And the Do it now! Could a trailer get here soon?
