Toriyama explains, “Juha had some transformations in the past, but this time he needed to wake up to a new change. Gohan’s Beast form sees his hair turning back into a spiky Super Saiyan 2 shape and long (like Young Gohan from Dragon Ball Z’s Cell Games arc), only his hair as silvery as Goku’s Ultra Instinct form. Gohan also possesses terrifying red eyes in the shape of a beast, which indicates that some great saiyan ape’s savagery is still burning inside of him.
