A new Marvel superhero steps up to replace Black Panther as the Protector of Wakanda (Exclusive)

Hard times await Black Panther, but fortunately, a new hero steps up to defend Wakanda. The African nation is in transition, as it transitions into parliamentary democracy during the intergalactic adventures of T’Challa’s Wakanda Empire. One of the black panther’s darkest secrets also emerged, in which his sleeping agents were assassinated by unknown assailants. T’Challa’s investigation into the killers leads to him becoming the number one suspect, now a fugitive from Wakanda’s secret police force, Hatut Zeraze. Fortunately for Wakanda, a young man named Tosin Odei looks to make a difference during the political turmoil.

ComicBook.com has an exclusive preview of Black Panther #7 From John Ridley, Stefano Landini, Matt Milla, and VC’s Joe Sabino. Preview shows that Tosin will come to the rescue of Chief Minister Wakanda Folasade after she made an emergency declaration to the citizens of the country. Akili, the chief of Hatut Zeraze, sends his officers to capture Folasade and they are thwarted by Tosin. Achille was once one of the prime suspects in the murders of T’Challa’s sleepy agents but manages to turn the King’s secrets against him, making T’Challa a wanted man.

Tosin Oduye is first introduced in a stand-up story in Black Panther #3/ Legacy Issue #200, from a village in Wakanda that eschews the massive technology that helped shape the country into the powerhouse it is today. He is a young man who cast a skeptical view of the elders of Wakanda and T’Challa for the way they run their community. Tosin’s introduction offers a different perspective and can help T’Challa look at Wakanda through fresh, new eyes. Marvel.com He also noted that “Tosen will make the crucial decision to become the new Wakanda Champion when the boiling point between king and nation reaches its head.”
