William Shatner Documentary in the Works, First Look Coming at San Diego Comic-Con

A documentary film chronicling the life of William Shatner on his way. Coming from Legion M and Exhibit A Pictures, this documentary will be produced jointly with the audience itself, as production companies open funding for the project to the general public. This is in line with Legion M’s mission statement, which describes the organization as “the world’s first fan-owned entertainment company.” Details have yet to be released about what those who give money for the documentary will get in return, but Legion M currently has pledges available in reserve. This documentary has been a long time coming for 91-year-old Shatner, who has been contacted on numerous occasions about his history.

“For years, I’ve had people approach me to make a documentary about my life, but I turned them all down because it wasn’t a good fit. When I heard how Legion M wanted to engage audiences to be a part of it (h/t), I turned them down,” Shatner said in a statement. diverse). “Fans have been responsible for my career – it seems right to own this document.”

The currently untitled documentary will be directed by Swiss director Alexander O. Philippe, who has directed documentaries such as The People vs. George Lucas (2010), dead document (2014) and Memory: the origins of aliens (2019).

“I grew up watching Bill Shatner on black and white TV in Switzerland. My first memories of him are from Colombo and the Twilight Zone. He’s a modern Renaissance man. He’s everywhere. Inevitable,” Philippe said in a statement. “This intimate film will highlight unknown and rarely seen aspects of Bell’s career and philosophy, as well as revisit some of his most iconic roles and cultural moments through an entirely new lens.”

Legion M founders, Paul Scanlan and Jeff Anison, praised Shatner for giving him the opportunity to work on this particular project.

“From the captain of a fictional spaceship to a real rocket man, William Shatner has led one of the most unique and best of life on the planet,” Scanlan and Anison said in a statement. “While we all know him from his iconic roles, REAL William Shatner is even more interesting. We are thrilled to be working with Alexandre and the outstanding team at Exhibit A, and are excited to give fans around the world the opportunity to be part of Bell’s legacy.”

Shatner will give a first glimpse of this project this July at San Diego Comic-Con at the Hall H panel directed by Kevin Smith.
