Petty confirmed, “My idea was that when Obi-Wan had to leave Tatooine, he left Cody in charge of Luke. And that gave us a hilarious little B story to keep cutting.” “He’s a really fun character and a guy who’s racing against time, obviously, because he’s getting older twice as fast. He’s trying to atone for the worst thing he’s done in his life. It’s tragic in a way, but it’s just fun…the way they quarreled about my stuff, was , you know, just put a smile on your face, and you know, they argue all the time.”
Speaking with the outlet, Betty revealed a number of other items he wrote but never made it to the series, from Obi-Wan and Cody disposing of bodies in the sarlacc pit to Obi-Wan who has visions about Luke Skywalker turning to the dark side including Mark Hamill.
