Seth MacFarlane Explains Orville’s Name Change On Hulu

After long waiting , Orville Currently dropping its third season on Hulu, it’s her new home after the jump from streaming on Fox. There is only one difference in that, rather than just being Orville Season 3, Season 1 of the show as a streaming exclusive Orville: New Horizons. No particular interpretation of the translation has been given yet. Seth MacFarlane is an innovator Orville. He also plays the role of Captain Ed Mercer in addition to producing, writing and directing. Talking to colliderMacFarlane explained where the idea for the addition came from new Horizons to me OrvilleNoun.

“Adding a subtitle was Dana Walden’s idea,” MacFarlane says. Walden is the president of Disney General Entertainment Content. “And I think it was a really good idea. This is my Disney boss that I worked with and I’ve been friends with for a long time. That was her idea. And I thought it was kind of cool because it’s not a reboot, it’s a continuation, but it was enough to tell the audience that we’re expanding a little bit. And that The scope is bigger. The show is more ambitious. It will look like a movie. Maybe it will feel more special. And it also seemed fitting because it’s been a few years since we started streaming and we’ve moved on to Hulu and it’s 10 episodes instead of 13. I guess it’s not that much of a difference. It seems to be It was an idea that was brought up to me and I love it.”

The move to Hulu allowed MacFarlane and his team to stick to a more dramatic tone, lengthen episode lengths, and include more VFX footage. MacFarlane spoke about these changes during a chat with ComicBook.com ahead of the new season.

“Certainly on a visual level, the visual effects this year, I think, are comparable to anything I’ve seen on TV, especially as the season goes on,” MacFarlane said. “The team has done a great job on all of these things and I think people are going to be really shocked by the scope of this thing as the season progresses.”

He continued, “From a storytelling point of view, it’s a lot better for me because my biggest problem, especially the proliferation of live broadcasts, there are some talented writers working on network dramas, but the problem is that you have to cut everything down to exactly 43 minutes. Not That’s how storytelling works. It’s not. You don’t want every story to be the same length and if you have a really great scene, it’s emotional and you take your time in. The audience feels something, you might have to cut out something that doesn’t have to be cut. Now, There’s a system, at the same time, on the other side of things. You don’t want to get bogged down on this point that boring your audience. But for a show like this, being able to be cinematic and taking the time to set the mood is something you can’t Do it on the net because you are so constrained by that lead time, that to me more than anything lse was the most satisfying thing about this move.”

Orville: New Horizons New episodes Thursday on Hulu. the first Orville A prose story written by MacFarlane based on an abandoned episode from this season, coming out later this month.
