Dragon Ball almost made Gohan’s new look completely different

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero is stepping away from Goku and Vegeta as the stars of the latest story, and instead focus on Gohan and Piccolo as they fight against the reincarnation of the Red Ribbon Army. While North American fans will have to wait until August 19 to see the new movie in theaters, new transformations for both Gohan and Piccolo have found their way online, with creator Akira Toriyama revealing that he had a completely different look at the movie. Son Goku this time.

Gohan has been a mainstay since his introduction in the first episode of Dragon ball Z, becoming the first Z-Fighter to achieve Super Saiyan 2 and perfecting his own transformation into his “Ultimate” form. While promotional materials for Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero Showing that Gohan was diving into all of his Super Saiyan transformation, as well as his mystical form, Goku’s son’s wrath seems to have given him a new transformation once again into his new “Beast” form. While fans of the Shonen franchise are still unclear when or if Gohan will show this transformation in the future of Dragon Ball Super.

In a recent interview, creator Akira Toriyama shared with fans that it was originally a much different form in mind for Gohan’s latest transformation, with the change in power originally giving Goku’s son a scarier appearance than we’ve seen from Z-Fighter in the past:

“Gohan had some transformations in the past, but this time he needed to wake up to a new change. Gohan achieved his own unique evolution, based on what kind of awakening he had when he was a boy. I even named this transformation Son Gohan Beast, meaning a savage beast Inside he had woken up. As for the design, I tried to draw him with a scary face and the skin of a place, but somehow, this wasn’t Gohan.”

Would you like to see this original version of Gohan’s new transformation? Do you think Gohan’s Beast form will eventually make its way into the manga after Granolah The Survivor Arc?
