Starring in his fourth single with Thor: Love and ThunderChris Hemsworth has accomplished something no other star in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has ever done. The audience said goodbye to Robert Downey Jr., Iron Man (who died in Avengers: Endgame) and Captain America by Chris Evans (who traveled back in time to be with Peggy Carter), but the God of Thunder is still a staple of Canon.
It does make you wonder, though: How much time do we have left with Thor for Chris Hemsworth? Is his time in the MCU over? It depends on who you ask – but it seems that actor and president of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige is confident that there will be more cinematic stories for Strongest Avenger after the movie’s release. Thor: Love and ThunderProvided that the material remains fresh.
Chris Hemsworth recently shared a Wired autocomplete interviews, and spoke about the possible end of his tour of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with his “What’s the last Marvel movie for Chris Hemsworth?” On a literal level, he explained that the last movie he shot for the comic book series was Thor: Love and Thunderand offered a big question mark as to whether we’ll see more of Thor in 2023 and beyond:
The same topic was brought up about Chris Hemsworth’s future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe recently movie total During an interview with Kevin Feige. As you’d expect from Feige (and he’s a black belt when it comes to keeping secrets and non-binding data), the CEO didn’t say anything about Hemsworth’s contract, nor did he specifically tease about any upcoming projects.
What he did, however, was to note that Thor is a character that appeared in the pages of Marvel Comics decades ago, and there is still a lot of popular material from those books that has yet to be translated to the big screen. Kevin Feige explained,
For what it’s worth, it looks like the right stuff will have Chris Hemsworth play Thor again in a heartbeat after making it. Thor: Love and Thunder. He has no interest in replenishing the area already explored with the character, and he is always looking for a new direction – and if something happens that meets these requirements, he will be in it. At the same time, he’s also not looking forward to playing the part until someone shouts, “Get on the hook!” Hemsworth told Total Film,
Much of Thor’s future will depend on where the character can be taken after the end of his latest adventure, and audiences everywhere will be able to experience the character’s journey in just a few days.
