Ultraman announces first Marvel Comics LEGO crossover

Ultraman is gearing up for one of its biggest crossovers yet, as it announces its first major crossover with Marvel Comics superheroes for a new series special! A few years ago, Tsuburaya Productions announced its intention to branch out with the various Tokusatsu franchises in entirely new ways. This was the biggest for the main Ultraman franchise, which in the years since returned with the first announcement with not only the main Tokusatsu series in Japan, but a new Shin Ultraman reboot, new anime series, new comics, and now a great new crossover with some of the biggest Marvel heroes.

Tsuburaya Productions and Marvel Comics have officially announced that some of Marvel’s biggest heroes like Spider-Man, Iron Man, and Captain Marvel (along with some notable villains) will be entering the packed Kaiju theater during this year’s Anime Expo. The universe of Ultraman and Ultraseven in a new comic series. This will be the first crossover between the two after the Ultraman-branded comics began releasing with Marvel not too long ago, and will actually take place within the continuity of those comics according to the official announcement.

While the crossover currently doesn’t have a specific title or release date as of this initial Anime Expo announcement, it will be the fourth major title to emerge from Tsuburaya Productions’ existing partnership with Marvel Comics. Teasing that series co-creators Kyle Higgins and Matt Groom will be part of the new project, there are currently very few details about what to expect from the new crossover story. As previously noted, this is far from the only new Ultraman project currently working with Tsuburaya Productions partnerships. There’s a new animated movie in the works with Netflix, and Shane Ultraman is currently making its way through theaters overseas at the time of writing. There’s still no word on an international release set for this reboot of the Tokusatsu classic just yet, but fans are definitely clamoring to review it when they get the chance.
