Rambunctious Fans threw in for an episode recently when the dark anime franchise announced that following the death of creator Kentaro Miura, mangaka friends Koji Mori and Studio Gaga will continue the story of Guts and Band of the Hawk. With the final chapter of the series illustrating some of the big problems for our Elfheim heroes, it looks like fans of the brutal series will have to wait a little longer than usual to read the next part of Miura’s masterpiece.
In Berserk’s latest chapter, installments that Miura didn’t write and draw, readers see Griffith arrive in Elfheim land and bring with him one of his most powerful servants in the Nosferatu Zud. With Guts trying to get revenge once more on his former best friend, and a dragon sword swinging on his head in vain, he gives us the final chapter altogether with Griffith picking up Casca and seemingly taking her away. With Casca’s memories and personality resurrected as a result of Elfheim’s magic, it will be interesting to see what she now thinks of Griffith after the events of the apocalyptic eclipse.
In a recent update, Young Animal, the series’ publishers, made an update Rambunctious The next chapter will be released on August 12th, pushing it back one week from the monthly release schedule under the new creators of Mori and Gaga, as they work to honor their late friend.
For now, there’s no news when it comes to Berserk’s return with a new anime series, although later this year in Japan, the three feature-length films that retell the Golden Age Arc story will hit the small screen once again. The films run as the Berserk Memorial Edition, and could serve as a gauge of interest in the anime, although we imagine we’ll see eventually. Rambunctious Returning with a new series where there is still a lot of material from the manga that has not yet been revived.
