Ms. Marvell reveals the MCU origin of Kamala Khan’s code

Warning: This story contains spoilers for Mrs. Marvel Episode 5. The superhero formerly known as “Light Girl” is undergoing an amazing transformation. Wednesday’s penultimate episode of Mrs. MarvellTitled “Time and Again”, Kamala Khan (Iman Velani) is sent back in time during the Partition to reveal the origin of the magical bangle she received from her great-grandmother Aisha (Mahweesh Hayat). Back in the present, Kamala My uncleMouniba (Zenobia Shroff) finds her daughter’s broken necklace in the aftermath of Kamala’s battle to prevent Jinn Nijma (Nimra Bocha) and the secret from opening the veil to light and destroying the world.

When Munibeh picked up Kamala’s necklace, it was broken into a lightning bolt resembling the Ms. Marvel superhero in comic books. In a video (below), Twitter user @watchwithneebz posited that the necklace will inspire Ms. Marvel’s superhero icon after the first episode, “Generation Why,” explaining that it reads “Kamala” in Arabic.

Unlike her comic book counterpart, Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) did not work under the superhero name “Mrs. Marvel” in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the comics, Danvers first appeared as Mrs. Marvel in 1976 Mrs. Marvell #1, later codenames “Binary” and “Warbird” were adopted before taking on the mantle of Captain Marvel.

Before her big screen debut opposite Carol Danvers in 2023 marvels, Episode 6 of Mrs. Marvell You’ll see Kamala don her superhero uniform when she returns home to Jersey City after an expedition to Karachi, Pakistan. In the season finale (streaming July 13), Ms. Marvel confronts Damage Control Department agents Cleary (Arian Moayed) and Deever (Alicia Rayner) when their super-hunting drones endanger her friends: Besty Bruno (Matt Lintz) and Kamala smash Super Kamran.
