Star Trek: Strange New Worlds I recently wrapped season one, oh boy, what an adventure. Paramount + subscribers I saw Captain Pike live out “What if?” A scenario in which he avoids a training accident and fights the Romulan ship alongside a familiar captain that fans know well: James T. Kirk. Paul Wesley He made his surprise debut in the first season finale And even a meeting with Spock, Ethan Peake. The exchange might not be quite what fans wanted, but Wesley did share some details with CinemaBlend about how they’re going in Season 2.
Spock and Kirk are a creative duo in star trek, but in the alternate reality of Pike he experienced, they never had the chance to form that strong bond. The two eventually share some interactions, and will eventually build a strong bond in the actual future afterwards. Strange new worlds. I asked Paul Wesley if he had talked about those scenes with actor Ethan Beck, and shared that the two have a Spock/Kirk dynamic nowadays, as well as a bit of info in season two:
in episode 1 [with Spock], we have gone somewhat with what was on the page. In Season 2, we’ll explore more of their dynamics. I can’t get into that much. What I’m going to say is that Ethan and I are becoming real friends now. It’s super funny, and I’m not sure if it’s subconscious, but we actually have this Kirk/Spock dynamic in real life. he is very funny. We chat, hang out, have dinner, we’ll go have a drink. We send text messages all the time. We have this kind of natural thing that he and I developed. It makes it so much easier on screen because we can kind of be ourselves.
It’s amazing to hear that new Kirk and Spock actors are now friends. It’s also good to hear that we’ll see more of the two characters interacting in Season 2, considering Kirk’s current status in Strange new worlds. As CinemaBlend learned earlier in the season, Kirk will be an officer in Farragut In the second season. The season finale confirmed it as well, as Pike evaluates Kirk’s profile once he returns from the alternate reality that appeared to him in the crystal of time.
Paul Wesley teased more scenes with Spock in Strange new worlds Season two, but add something important to note. Wesley hinted at how one moment in the Season 1 finale spoke about what Season 2 had in store:
You get that sparkle in the first season finale. The first time Kirk appears on screen, he says, “Impressive, Mr. Spock.” He immediately realizes that this man has a different way of thinking that is very curious. So, we get a glimmer of it, but that’s not what that episode is about. And in the end, in season two, that’s still Pike’s show. It’s Baek, Spock, and Uhura. It’s a pre-Kirk institution. Whatever happens, Kirk is part of that schedule. It’s not just Kirk’s show, it’s just that [not] What is this yet [laughs].
