watchOS 9 release date
The watchOS 9 release date has not been confirmed yet. The exact release date of the new watchOS versions comes at the same time as Apple announces its new smartwatch; This is usually in the fall.
Before the final release of watchOS 9, beta versions will likely be available to both developers and general testers. The developer version is available from June 6, while the public version is coming out in July. For reference, the first public beta of watchOS 8 was released on July 1, 2021.
WatchOS 9 Supported Devices – Which Apple Watch Models Will Be Compatible?
As for watchOS 9 supported devices, Apple threw us a curve ball. At the very least, we knew that the Apple Watch 7 and Apple Watch SE would get watchOS 9. But the Apple Watch 3, which is still sold new by Apple, is not eligible for the annual update.
Otherwise, users of the Apple Watch 4, Apple Watch 5, and Apple Watch 6 will get watchOS 9. As always, the latest version of watchOS will be free to install. Apple does not charge for software updates.
Here’s our complete guide on watchOS 9 compatibility.
New watchOS 9 watch faces
There are four new watch faces coming in watchOS 9, and they’re actually quite a few at once. In addition to the updated astronomy face, the lunar clock face gives the user the option to follow a pre-modern calendar, such as the Islamic calendar.
Two other faces include a fun animated digital clock from an artist Joey Fulton (Opens in a new tab) and the Metropolitan watch face, which features a stretch line print and multiple color options.
That’s not all – more watch faces come in handy, plus the option to install favorite apps. Dogs and cats are now supported in the vertical face, too.
Turn on watchOS 9 and other workout features
The Apple Watch makes a compelling case against the best running watches. With so many new running metrics, there are more ways to monitor your running and progress. Vertical oscillation, stride length and ground contact time will now be seen between the upgraded live workout interface – which also includes projected sections, splits, elevation and other metrics.
A new upcoming metric for Apple Watch exercise tracking is heart rate zones. Monitoring your heart rate zones can help you get a sense of your intensity levels, and let you know how hard you’re working (and whether you’re recovering properly) during exercise.
Heart rate zones will play a role in the new custom workout tool. A custom workout can add structure to your run, and push alerts to your wrist based on your heart rate and distance. You’ll also run with a strength goal, or aim an effort in a range you can reasonably maintain. If you run the same path a lot, your Apple Watch will automatically be able to compare your performance over time on that path.
Finally, triathletes will benefit from a new multi-sport exercise type that can automatically switch between swimming, cycling and running.
watchOS 9 . sleep cycles
The Apple Watch’s sleep tracking has gradually improved since it debuted two years ago. In watchOS 9, the Sleep app adds sleep phase or sleep cycle tracking. Using the information collected by the accelerometer and heart rate monitor, your Apple Watch should now be able to detect what stage of sleep you’re in. You will be able to see how much time you spent on each stage overnight and when you can. I woke up.
To bolster its efforts in sleep science, Apple is also giving users the option to contribute sleep phase data to the Apple Heart and Movement Study through the Research app.
watchOS 9 AFib History
Those with an Apple Watch 4 or later (with the exception of Apple Watch SE) were able to monitor for signs of atrial fibrillation or an irregular heartbeat. Now, those diagnosed with atrial fibrillation can review a history of electrocardiograms (ECGs) to see how often they have AFib. Using the Health app, these users will also be able to review if their other habits or activities are affecting AFib. And based on the Medical Sharing feature introduced last year, users can share AFib history data with their doctors.
watchOS 9 الأدوية drug app
With the new Medicines app, Apple Watch users can track and manage medications right from their wrist. Although a large portion of the medication management experience will occur in the Health app, Apple Watch users can receive notifications or reminders to take their medication.
When you add a drug in the Health app, you’ll be warned about drug interactions or other critical concerns about the medications you’re taking. Trusted individuals can also see your medication data, if you have a supervisor or relative watching over you.
watchOS 9 – What does this mean for the Apple Watch 8?
Wondering what watchOS 9 tells us about the Apple Watch 8? The answer is not enough. But we have an idea of Apple’s intentions based on watchOS 9.
We’re excited to see Apple’s priority health and wellness features with this year’s software update, so the Apple Watch 8 will likely continue those efforts with an additional health sensor.
