David Crockett explains why he’s not worried about Ric Flair’s health heading into his last game

The Ric Flair’s last match The event will see Jim Crockett Promotions revive for one night where stars from Impact Wrestling, MLW, AEW, AAA, NJPW STRONG and NWA will participate in an event celebrating the final match of “The Nature Boy”. Due to his age and the fact that he has a pacemaker, fans have been openly concerned about Flair’s health since the July 31 show was first announced. But David Crockett, son of Jim Crockett Jr., made it clear under the ring Why his concerns about Flair have since been eased.

β€œAt first, I was very worried,” Crockett said, before explaining that he changed his mind after seeing Flair training for the match.

“He will,” Crockett said. “Now, he won’t be like the Ric Flair I knew at first… but he’d be awesome.”

Flair explained during the event’s press conference at the Nashville Fairgrounds that his only health concern for the match was if his pacemaker was disconnected. He also plans to not take the usual blood thinners on match day.

In a recent interview with ComicBook, the 16-time world champion explained that for his last match to be a proper finale, it had to be better than anything he did after his initial retirement match with Shawn Michaels in WrestleMania XXIV. Flair returned to the ring a year after that match and will wrestle in Impact Wrestling until September 2011.

“It has to be really good, it has to be better than anything I’ve done after Shawn Michaels,” Flair said. “It’s not about money. It’s all about reasserting the fact that I have my self-confidence. It’s never been higher. Back then, back then, I still had self-confidence issues and I was paying (for divorce) for three people. And I had to go to work. Now I don’t have to do anything.

“But it gave me a goal,” he added. “I’ve been working. I’ve worked with Kelly (Brewster) together, as partners on this[upcoming comic book series]but she also trained with me and there was a lot of hard work. We went 45 miles to John Cena’s place in the morning for an hour and a half. Then. We go to Saint Peak to train as if there is no tomorrow for two hours and it would be more fun for me if I had someone to compete with.”
