Two former WWE Superstars have been dropped as producers

WWE has brought in two former active wrestlers, Kurt Henning (Curtis Axel) and Arya Daivari, to work as behind-the-scenes producers starting in April. The two were spotted on Raw a month after trying to break up a fight between Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins, but reports have been released that the pair have already been excused from their new roles. according to PWInsider, The reason was budget cuts but it was also noted that they could be brought back in the future.

Explaining the situation, Mike Johnson wrote, “There was a huge push to add more producers right after WrestleMania because of the crazy workload and time the company expects from producers.” That’s what led to the pilot additions. Now, with the cuts, they’ve been dropped (at least in the short term), so producers are back in what PWInsider described to tonight as ‘extremely exhausted.’

Axel, a former tag team champion, was originally released in April 2020 during WWE’s first major wave of budget cuts during the COVID-19 pandemic. Davari was released in June 2021 and has since appeared in AEW, NWA, and NJPW Strong.

WWE released a lot of big names in 2022, although compared to the past two years, the waves of roster cuts have been noticeably more moderate. The biggest names abandoned so far include William Regal, Samoa Joe, Cesaro, Malcom Bivens (all now in AEW), Road Dogg, Kushida, Dakota Kai, Harland and Dexter Lumis. Other names such as Nash Carter and Troy Donovan have been dropped for disciplinary reasons.

However, the jury is still out on whether or not both Sasha Banks and Naomi have exited the company. It’s been more than a month since reports first dropped that Banks had been granted release after being suspended indefinitely in May, and it was recently reported that they were both removed from WWE’s internal roster, but WWE is still refusing to officially confirm this. she is gone.
