Spoilers in front of the July 12 episode of american talents season 17 auditions.
american talents He’s back to showcase talented businesses from all over the world after taking a week off to visit the judge again Simon CowellFavorite Golden Whistles (which included a tribute to the late nightbird), and it was the first audition episode without any golden whistles left to hand out. There were plenty of competitors whose performances were worthy of snippets from the roof, however, one singer’s performance of Cyndi Lauper’s “True Colors” moved. Sofia Vergara To tears…but not the bad kind, and she’s ready to cry again!
Southern gospel singer and vocal coach Ben Waits Came to me AGT From Nashville, Tennessee, with his wife, mother, and grandmother on hand to encourage him. The 32-year-old received some cheer when he announced he would be singing “True Colors,” and then more when he made it clear that he chose the song because it conveys a “message of hope.” He started singing, and it didn’t take long for Judge Sofia Vergara to feel the emotion. take a look:

Simon Cowell and Heidi Klum He seemed emotionally affected as well (and Howie Mandel She was absent this week), but Sofia Vergara was the only one to cry in public on the judging panel, and was the first to stand on her feet with a standing ovation after he sang the last tune.
When the applause finally died down, Heidi Klum mentioned that “Sofia screams her eyes out” and Simon Cowell commented that “Sofia doesn’t cry,” so Ben Waits getting her right to tears was significant. Vergara praised him for making his own iconic song for the performance, and it was no surprise that he got yes from all three judges. Vergara had one last comment praising him, saying:
I can’t wait to cry again! yes!
Note to self: If you’re going to make a judge cry while performing in a talent contest, make sure she wants to cry again! This isn’t the first time Vergara has torn in season 17, but she notes that even after saxophonist Avery Dixon gets her first golden bell that she “never cries.” She’s definitely supportive without crying, as fans especially saw with teen dancer Max Ostler.
The praise didn’t stop even after Ben Whites left AGT The theater. Sofia Vergara took to Twitter For sharing the video he said it was one of her “favorite auditions ever,” and he had a message of her own:

Season 17 was particularly strong with the singers, so much so that Heidi Klum changed her mind about who she wanted to give the Golden Bell to after a young songstress impressed her. In fact, Vergara was the only one of the judges and host Terry Crews who did not ring the bell for a musician, and instead sent a dance troupe Maya Direct to live shows. (I’ve already ranked the Mayyas as the most likely out of the five gold votes to win season 17, but it’s still anyone’s game at this point!)
