On the occasion of death, Max (Sadie Sink) makes a terrible confession in Stranger Things 4 Epilogue, “Chapter Nine: On the Back.” “I pray something happens to me,” Max said as he hunted Vicna (Jimmy Campbell Power), the upside-down predator who would break the world with the death of its fourth victim. “That thing distasteful It’s going to happen to me.” This terrible thing happens when Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) – who is obsessing Max’s mind from his pizza dough freezer – can’t stop Vecna from claiming his fourth kill: Max.
Vecna floats through the air inside Creel’s attic, Max’s limbs twisting telepathically and breaking her bones. It was Kate Bush’s song “Running That Hill (Deal With God)” that helped Max escape the lair of Vickna’s mind in “Chapter Four: Dear Billy,” but Moby’s somber “When It’s Cold I’d Die” plays The role of Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) embraces Max’s disfigured body. “I don’t want to die. I’m not ready,” Max cries as she succumbs to her wounds — even for a minute.
Max is clinically dead before he can be revived by Eleven forces, but psychological investigation of Max’s mind reveals an empty void. Season 4 ends with Max comatose – but alive – and Vecna successfully breaks the barrier between Hawkins and the Upside Down.

The Duffer Brothers creators have revealed Max’s final death in the original plans for the penultimate season of Weird things Which will conclude after the fifth and final season on Netflix. In a separate appearance on Weird things After the show, Ross Dover said of Max’s fate, “We don’t know if Max will be okay… We don’t really know. We wanted to leave it up in the air to move forward with Season 5.”
Left in limbo before Stranger Things 5Sink does not know what will happen to Max after Eleven’s psychic fights with Vecna.
“I just hope she’s able to do anything, I think,” she said. “I have no idea what’s going on with her. But I don’t know, I hope she’s out of the hospital. Getting out of the whole cast would be nice.”
