Johnny Depp fought Amber Heard in court over the course of a few months in a defamation lawsuit this year. Criticized in an opinion piece she wrote for the Washington Post that talked about her history with domestic violence. On June 1, Depp won the defamation lawsuit and received $15 million in damages, in addition to $5 million in punitive damages.
One of the co-stars of Depp’s Pirates of the Caribbean talked about watching this court battle on TV as the media frenzy surrounding it expanded.
James Bond star Naomi Harris played Tia Dalma in Pirates of the Caribbean – the mysterious witch and love interest of Davy Jones. She worked alongside Depp in two Pirates films; Dead Man’s Chest and At World’s End.
“It’s hard not to pursue this case because it was shocking our throats every day. It was all over social media, all over the news, everywhere,” Harris said of the actor’s lawsuit against Heard.
It went on to describe coverage of the case as “extremely disturbing”.
“There are some very serious events happening in the world that are worth a lot longer than what is happening because this kind of thing is being broadcast,” she added.
Harris noted that she had “real problems” with the fact that Depp and Heard’s trial was televised, but that of Ghislaine Maxwell’s trial was not.
She added that despite the fact, this was a “more relevant and important” issue.
Harris has not offered any blatant or otherwise supportive of Depp.
However, in the past, other Pirates of the Caribbean stars rallied behind the actor.

Ryder said, “The idea that he was an incredibly violent person is the farthest from the Johnny I’ve known and loved… He was never violent toward me. He was never violent or abusive toward anyone I’d seen.”
Depp won the case, and Heard later attributed his victory to his “impact”.
“I am saddened that the mountain of evidence remains insufficient to stand up to the disproportionate power, influence and influence of my ex-husband,” she said in a statement. “I am even more disappointed by what this ruling means to other women. It is a setback. It turns back the clock to a time when In it, women who speak up and speak out are shamed and humiliated.
