Here’s our guide to help you get to the Golden Apple Archipelago at Genshin Impact, which is also how to unlock Main Event 2.8: Summertime Odyssey.
This is the same additional map that was first introduced in Genshin Impact 1.7, where Jeanbara’s summer swimsuit was launched. However, even veteran players who have already opened the Golden Apple archipelago at that time will have to unlock it again in version 2.8. You just need to follow very simple steps and launch a bunch of scenes, so don’t worry.
Unlock the Golden Apple Archipelago and Summer’s Odyssey in Genshin Impact 2.8
- You must be at Adventurer (AR) 32 or higher
- Clear the Archon Quest quest “Chapter 2: Introduction – Autumn Wind, Vermilion Leaves” (already cleared if you’ve been to Inazuma)
- Completing Mona’s Story Mission “The Astrolabe Chapter: Act One – Beyond the Stars of this World”
- Make sure you talk to Catherine in Mondstadt, not with those in Leo or Inazuma.
- This will start the search for “Golden Apple Holiday Returns!” Navigation will be activated automatically
- Go meet Fischl and Mona in the illustrated Mondstadt square by navigating the first series of short dialogue clips
- Go to Angel’s Share pop-up bar for more scenes with Xinyan, Kazuha and Venti
- You will have to go to the second floor of the bar to talk to Venti in private
- Once all the scenes are over you will have to wait until 8 AM – 10 AM the next day so open the Paimon menu and click on the clock in the left column to set the current time
- Go meet Fischl, Mona, Xinyan and Kazuha at the main entrance to Mondstadt
- Cross the stone bridge of Mondstadt (where Timmie is located) to reach the “Dodofortress”, a vehicle prepared by Alice to take you to the Summer Islands
After the final scene, you will now be in the Golden Apple Archipelago. Now that you’ve been there once, you’ll be able to teleport back there at any time via the area navigation menu. You can access this menu by clicking on your current location in the bottom right of the map screen. All areas you have unlocked will be listed, along with your Serenitea bowl (if you unlocked it).
The map of the summer islands in Jinshin is not permanent
Just like in version 1.7, once this version ends, the Golden Island Archipelago map will no longer be accessible. Version 2.8 will end on August 23, 2022. Until then, be sure to prioritize the event and explore the Summer Islands to get all the Treasure Chests and Primogems.
