Taron Egerton has become a fairly prominent name on the big screen, with performances in films like rocket man And the Kingsman: Secret Service in his name. I don’t know it changes your style as an actor that much. Apparently the medium is for someone creating it from the ground up – so Dennis [Lehane], the show director, the writer, the creator – for him, I think it’s different from the movie, because the tools you use to tell the story are different. It’s a different structure. And I think there’s a bit of that when you’re the lead actor in something too, because I think you can embrace the ambiguous characters more than that. You do not have to declare someone. You have a longer period of time to tell the story, so you can tolerate that things will develop slower. I think maybe on some level, you realize that dimly in performance as well. But in general, I treat it the same way.
According to Taron Egerton, he didn’t actually change his approach much, other than being “faintly aware” that there was more time to tell a story and flesh out characters in a six-episode series than in a two-hour movie. The actor’s comments also indicate that the show has found the right man for the job, which is not too surprising.
