Influential wrestling champions are reported to be freeing their agents tomorrow

It looks like two of the biggest names in Impact Wrestling will be free agents starting tomorrow, according to a new report by PWIInsider It states that The Good Brothers (Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows) will not be in contract with Impact after taping tonight in Louisville, Kentucky. According to multiple sources, the current Impact Tag Team Champions will be free to sign a new deal if they choose from tomorrow, although it is also said that they will remain with Impact for additional dates, including the upcoming Impact events in August.

The Good Brothers are expected to debut at New Japan Pro Wrestling, and those additional impact dates will fit in with Team Japan’s new commitments. This is in line with a report a year earlier that said Impact’s contracts for the team were lifted in July.

The Good Brothers recently won the Impact Tag Team Championship for the third time since signing with Impact Wrestling, defeating The Briscoe’s at Slammiversary. This final round of the Champs is pretty early, but their last title came in an impressive 231 days, and that would also start at Slammiversary, where they beat three other teams in a four-way match.

Their first run as champions began at Turning Point in 2020, and that tour concluded 119 days after defeating FinJuice at Sacrifice. It remains to be seen if their third title can trump the previous two, and luckily they’re still hanging around Impact for a while longer, just not exclusively.

The Good Brothers have appeared in NJPW before since they started on Impact, but it looks like this would have a much bigger presence if they worked on Impact dates around NJPW dates. With the way NJPW and Impact are working with AEW these days, The Good Brothers could also appear in AEW from time to time, but we’ll have to wait and see.
