One of Marvel’s oldest and most famous characters is getting a new solo series. famous Iron Man Writer Christopher Cantwell took to social media on Thursday to announce his upcoming series, Namur Seminary: Occupied Beaches. In his post, Cantwell described the project as “something very, very special” and would take readers into a future where the world is mostly immersed and Namor rules under control—though the Atlantic finds itself on a mission that may, for some, be an unexpected one.
“This is something very special,” Cantwell wrote: “I’m going to do a comic Namor the Sub-Mariner.” “This is my first blind thought to Marvel, and I’m glad they said yes. The story takes place 100 years in the future on a mostly sunken land. Namur rules the world, but in his twilight years he contemplates a mercurial life, and how his friends were often enemies.” , and how so much of the world he knew has disappeared—and is attacking. Cantwell also wrote of his enduring love for the character and teased that the supporting staff of writers would surprise readers while also teasing a potential appearance by the Human Torch.
“So, in a way, Namur: occupied beaches It builds on the first war of Marvel’s heroes in the golden age…and answers it with a second game that floats at the end of humanity itself,” Cantwell wrote. This book is basically my love letter to Marvel Comics itself. “
Namur is one of Marvel’s oldest characters, making his debut in 1939 in Motion Picture Funnies Weekly #1 before making his public debut in Marvel Comics #1 October 1939. The character was made by Bill Everett. The first anti-hero comic book, Namor at various points in his character’s history has been both an antagonist and a hero, serving with Avengers, X-Men, Defenders, Invaders, Fantastic Four, and even the Illuminati. It is rumored that the character will appear in live action in the future Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
