Marvel’s I Am Groot Releases In Theaters, But With A Catch

Later this year, Disney + will launch the animated series from Marvel Studios I grew up, a series of short videos starring the little talking tree as he embarks on nasty adventures. Like every other MCU show on the streaming service, it looks like I Am Groot will only be available on that platform, but it’s now been revealed that the series will be showing in some movie theaters, but there’s a major catch. As you noticed directone episode of I Am Groot will be shown exclusively at Los Angeles’ El Capitan Theater (which is owned and operated by The Walt Disney Company).

One episode of the series, “Magnum Opus,” is set before select shows of Thor: Love and Thunder at the Hollywood Theater starting July 18. Running in El Capitan for one week only, the I Am Groot short will run before one screening of the film, specifically “4:15pm shows on July 18 and 19, and 1pm shows from July 20-24.” You can see the official poster for Al-Qusayr’s appearance in the theater below.

Details about I grew up On the whole it has not been confirmed by Marvel Studios. Unlike programs like Moon Knight, WandaVision, and Ms. Marvel, the series doesn’t seem to be a very impressive chapter in the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Guardians of the Galaxy Architect James Gunn previously said the shorts are not part of the Guardian’s larger “saga.”

“They are short animated films, so they are not necessarily part of the Guardians saga,” guardians Helmer and I grew up Producer James Gunn confirmed it on Twitter earlier this summer. In a follow-up tweet, Jean added that the shorts are “canonical for themselves, I think.”

So far, Groot’s character is the only confirmed character to appear on the show, but previously released storyboard art suggested another Guardians of the Galaxy character, Drax, would appear in shorts. Drax, like some of the other Guardians, previously appeared in Marvel’s What If…? It appears that he may also appear in Groot A series of shorts.

I Am Groot Series Joins What If…? As Marvel Studios Animation Shows, he’ll be joining them soon marvel zombiesAnd the Spider-Man: Year One, And the X-Men 97.

“I think if I told you about our animation plans, you’d blow your mind,” Brad Winderbaum, former head of animation at Marvel Studios, told ComicBook.com. “I mean, you are completely unconstrained by any kind of rules, which is the most exciting and the most difficult thing about that, because then you have to create your own rules. But I mean, it really is, in many ways, the purest interpretation of the imagination of the people behind it. There is. There is an element of chaos in all things. There is an element of chaos in animation.”

I grew up It hits Disney+ on August 10. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 It is scheduled to arrive in theaters on May 5, 2023 Galaxy Holiday’s Special Guardians It has not yet received a release date but will debut this year.
