Tommy Lee Jones ‘couldn’t stand’ working with Jim Carrey – ‘hate him’ | movies | entertainment

Today, Saturday, July 16, at 9 p.m. on Channel 4, Tommy Lee Jones stars in Ad Astra. The touching film follows an astronaut trying to track down his missing father in space. The film’s themes deal with masculinity, its toxicity, and the relationships between men.

Jones experienced a male problem in the 1990s, when he began scolding Jim Carrey while filming Batman Forever.

Jones worked opposite Carrey in 1995 in Batman Forever where he played Two Faces, while Carrey played The Riddler.

The Tongue and Cheek movie featured a lot of flashy outfits, weird makeup, and a gritty script. But Carrie still managed to give himself a strong comedic role in the picture.

But it was these details that held Jones off working with the Ace Ventura star.

Joel Schumacher, director of Batman Forever, recalls: “I said Tommy Lee Jones was one of the most popular characters in People magazine… He was great on the client show. But he wasn’t very nice to Jim Carrey when we were making Batman Forever.”

Schumacher believed Jones was upset with Carey because of his extremely loud and extroverted personality.

Schumacher recalled: “Tommy, and I say this very respectfully, is a scene thief. Well, you can’t steal a scene from Jim Carrey. It’s impossible. And I think it upset Tommy.”

He explained that Jones did not try to steal any scenes from Carrie, but that he was not “nice” with Carrey because of his acting style.

He said, “He didn’t behave with Jim the way an Academy Award winner should have acted with a star on Hollywood Boulevard – for being the oldest member of the cast, having such an outstanding career and the accolades that go with it – he should have acted towards Jim. But what happens In the group stays on the group.”

He said: “Blood is draining from his face.”

Curry said it was as if Jones was “thinking about him 24 hours a day”.

He continued, “He got up trembling.” “He must have been in a state of fantasy or something.”

Then Jones stood up and hugged Carrie and said, “I hate you. I really don’t love you.”

And I said, ‘What’s the problem?’ and pull a chair [to his dinner table]which may not have been smart.”

“I can’t punish your fests,” Jones replied.

After Batman Forever, Carrie and Jones never worked together again.

But their movie made a lot of money. Although the movie was made with a staggering $100 million budget, it grossed $336 million at the box office.

Schumacher later returned to the series to direct a sequel – Batman & Robin – in 1997.

Ad Astra is available to rent on Amazon Prime Video now.
