One element of the adaptation where the Zarat sings from the book to the big screen Daisy Edgar Jones found it really exciting

after, after Where Cordads sings Flying off bookstore shelves since 2018, Delia Owens’ bestseller has been reimagined in New movie release Starring Daisy Edgar Jones. Now there’s definitely pressure that comes with playing a literary character that readers have spent hours fantasizing about and living in their heads for, but there is one specific aspect of the adaptation that was particularly enjoyable for the actress.

When CinemaBlend had the opportunity to talk to Daisy Edgar-Jones about making the film, they gushed about having the film’s voiceover element to add to Kya’s story when adapting the project from the book to the big screen. In her words:

I loved this part of it because it’s really exciting when you read a screenplay from a book and all the different styles of it. I loved the voiceover aspect because it kind of felt like Kya felt like she was part of the swamp at the time, it was reflective of her life and yes I kind of enjoyed finding a difference in tone out loud with that part of [the film]. It was fun because it meant, I realized, that a lot of the movie is flashbacks from the courtroom, although when we were filming, it just felt like it was all kind of one thing actually – a lot of Kya’s development was in flashbacks We start not knowing who she is and get to know her as the movie goes on.
