One of the most underappreciated TV shows on Apple TV Plus returns for its third run this week, and it’s almost time for the third season of Trying. While Ted Lasso might grab all the headlines, wannabe parents Nikki (Esther Smith) and Jason (Ravi) Spall gave him a run for his money in the endearing department without question.
The show’s first season saw the 30-something work their way through the rigorous adoption approval process. During the sophomore season of Trying, Nikki and Jason experienced difficulty matching a child to complete their family. However, the end of season two finally saw them bring their custodial child, the princess, home only to discover that her younger brother also needed a family to take him in.
The third season experience will see the duo attempt to adjust to life as first-time foster parents of not two young children but based on the trailer, it looks like the miserable pair will face the usual scratches and adventures. This season isn’t going to be without drama because Nikki and Jason got everything they wanted, they could all break up.
Not only will Nikki and Jason be trying to adapt to such huge life changes this season as well, the show’s charming supporting cast will be along the way. Best friends Erica (Ophelia Lovebond) and Freddie (Oliver Criss) are confirmed to be back, as well as Nikki’s sister Karen (Sian Brooke) and her eccentric husband (Darren Boyd).

Try Season 3 Trailer
Last month, Apple gave us our first look at the Season 3 experience via a two-minute trailer. This sneak peek outlines what will likely be the biggest event of the season: Nikki and Jason have just 12 weeks to prove they can provide a home for two kids. Which will only complicate the fact that the owner is planning to sell his house, which could leave them without proper housing for the princess and her brother. The trailer also notes that Trying’s sweet and light tone, but fun, will continue into its third season which is pretty good in our books.
