Fallout TV, based on the popular post-apocalyptic game franchise, is in development at Amazon from the creators of Westworld.
Amazon won the bidding war to license the rights to the game, and it has enlisted a quote from Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, the married duo behind the hit sci-fi drama on HBO. Fallout TV is the first project for Nolan and Joy’s massive nine-figure deal to make shows and movies for Amazon.
Amazon and Bethesda, the game studio that makes Fallout, confirmed the news on Twitter.

Fallout is set in the future Americans envisioned in the late 1940s. The country imploded itself during a nuclear war in the year 2077. The Fallout video game series debuted in 1997 and achieved record sales worldwide. The mobile game Fallout Shelter has been downloaded more than 170 million times.
“Drops is one of the greatest game series ever,” Joey and Nolan said in a joint statement. Each chapter of this insanely fairy tale cost us countless hours that we could have spent with family and friends. So we’re incredibly excited to be partnering with Todd Howard and the rest of the brilliant lunatics in Bethesda to bring this massive, subversive and darkly funny universe to life with Amazon Studios. “
Here’s everything you need to know about Fallout TV.
Fallout TV release date
The Fallout TV series release date is TBD a lot.
The project is in its early stages, with Amazon just acquiring the rights and attaching the Nolan and Joy Kelter film production banner.
So, the first step is for Nolan and Joey to write a script. Amazon has had a sequential commitment fine, which means it will pay even if it decides against the script. However, if they continue with the script, Fallout will skip the traditional beta phase and get a sequential order.
TV series fallout plot
Since the script hasn’t been written yet, there’s not much to speculate when it comes to Fallout’s rendering scheme. A first look at the Fallout TV series suggests that it will be in the Fallout 3 timeframe, due to the appearance of Super Duper Mart.
However, Bethesda revealed in its announcement that “the series is set in a cruel wasteland against the previous generation’s ideal of a better world through nuclear power. It’s serious in its tone, but it’s filled with moments of satirical humor and the second film. – Nuclear Fantasies.”
Westworld has some ironic moments of humor too – think of the stumbling techniques that Thandie Newton’s Maeve easily manipulates. The fallout might look similar to those parts of Westworld.
Fallout TV series cast
Walton Goggins (Justified, The Righteous Gemstones) stars as the ghoul to be named.
Yellowjackets’ Ella Purnell will lead the series, while Kyle MacLachlan (Twin Peaks), Xelia Mendes-Jones (Netflix’s Havoc), and Aaron Moten (Mozart in the Jungle) fill in the rest of the cast.
