Massive spoilers for Ms. Marvel’s final season, “No Ordinary,” await ahead, so read at your own risk!
The season finale of the Marvel Studios series Miss. marvel It came and went, but fans are still talking about it. The action-packed episode saw Kamala Khan of Faith Vilani finally solidifying herself as a superhero by taking on a shady damage control. She also risks her life to save the newly superpowered Kamran. Of course, many are also still reeling from the game-change reveal that was dropped over the past few minutes. But what was it like for program writer Pesha K. Ali and her team to get to know it themselves? Well, the producer shed some light on that as well as if she was personally interested in building on this aspect of Kamala’s journey.
In the last moments of Mrs. MarvellIn the sixth episode, the teenage heroine meets her friends Nakia and Bruno for a night out. The latter then proceeded to tell Kamala that while doing some research for her older brother Aamir, he discovered something about her physiology. Interestingly, her DNA differs from that of her relatives because of what Bruno refers to as a “mutation”. This term alone was enough to get fans excited, but perhaps many missed it when excerpted from the classic X-Men A song played during that moment. (Funny enough, one of the Iman Fellaini’s favorite Kamala moments include Wolverine.)
Bisha K. Ali teased this major reveal when we spoke during the Disney+ show junket – where she also talked about Kamala Khan’s preparation for marvels. From the end, she made it clear that the idea of Khan being a mutant wasn’t something she and her team had planned from the start. So when I spoke to her about the post-final show, I was curious to know when the creative decision started and who introduced it. I mean, would the head of Marvel Studios be president Kevin Feige (who had notes on development) Reveal such a thing personally? As it turned out, it wasn’t, but as Ali reports, I learned of the revelations from someone else, someone who knows the character well:
It is fitting that the writer/producer got the news from EP Sana Amanat, where she was involved in creating the character Ms. Marvel in 2013. According to the lead writer, Amanat served as a kind conduit between the people working on the show and the top-ups in the studio. The rash development certainly came as a surprise to her, especially since she didn’t focus so heavily on the bigger things that happen in the cinematic universe:
The The final massive reveal can (and should) change the MCU Going to stage 5. It also reinforces the idea that the role of Kamala Khan will grow even after she appears in Captain Marvel sequel next year. But if the character eventually falls for the X-Men and other mutants, it’s natural to wonder if Bisha K. Ali would be interested in tackling said project. When I asked her about it, she offered some honest thoughts about the possibility while considering her Marvel journey:
Apart from this show, the writer/producer also worked loki As a story writer and editor, for the past few years she has immersed herself in the world of superheroes. One can understand why she was ready to move on to other things. While discussing the topic, you went on to explain what you would like to see happen behind the scenes:
It’s better to come out on top, right? I’m sure the company can find some other talented creators to expand on Kamala’s mutating legacy. (In fact, the director of the series, Adel Al-Arabi and Bilal Falah Pitching the X-Men as a potential Marvel tool themselves.) However, because of her strong work on the show, I’d like to see Bisha K. Ali is returning to Marvel Studios at some point down the road.
