Boruto: Naruto Next Generations is preparing for the next major anime arc, and has brought with it some new designs for Kawaki, Himawari, and more! The anime has been running through a series of anime original stories since the battle with Isshiki Otsutsuki ended, and it will take much longer before the manga can fully flesh out the next arc. This now means it’s time for the team behind the anime to experiment with their own storylines and arcs, and it looks like they’re going to be taking a big swing with the status quo after that.
Boruto: Naruto Next Generations It has been revealed that the upcoming main arc coming to the anime is titled “Kawaki/Himawari Ninja School Edition” and as the title suggests, will focus on both Kawaki and Himawari as the two begin their shinobi journeys together. This new arc is going to make some big choices for Himawari since she never went to ninja school in the manga series (same for Kawaki too), and with this new anime arc come new designs for the duo that show how much change they have as they grow up and head to school. This new arc that focuses on Kawaki and Himawari will also introduce a new trio of characters to the anime who will likely also be part of Himawari’s new ninja school team. These new characters were also cast and detailed with Takuto Yoshinaga joining the anime as Eiki Fuma, Inori Minase as Kae Yukiwari, and Rina Hidaka as Osuka Kamakura. This new arc has been teased for anime episodes sometime in August, but it hasn’t been fully revealed yet exactly what kind of new story this original arc for the main duo will cover in its entirety.
With the manga continuing to make its way through its follow-up arc into the Otsutsuki saga, it will likely take a long time before the anime gets to this point. So these original arcs will stay true, and hopefully offer some new perspectives on characters that don’t get as much focus in the manga.
