Gotham Knights Previews have already shown two of DC’s most iconic villains that we’ll see in action when it launches later this year, but one character that’s been absent from trailers and shows before is Joker. The arguably the most famous clown among DC’s villains could easily have been hidden away from previews to keep his appearance in Gotham Knights Surprise, but that doesn’t seem to be the case here after the game makers confirmed that Joker doesn’t exist Gotham Knights Absolutely.

Based on the introduction to the game and what we know about it so far, it makes some sense that the Joker wouldn’t be in the game. While Batman has no shortage of villains to contend with, the Joker is the villain most closely associated with the hero. How this will be explained in the narration remains to be seen, but the game already seems pretty crowded with other villains anyway. There is the mysterious Court of Owls, and the creators have already revealed that the Penguin and Mr. Freeze will be in the game as well.
