Junji Ito wins another Eisner award

The Eisner Awards are a big deal in the North American comic book and manga world that arrives from the East, and the recent awards ceremony has many Eisners dedicated to creators from both mediums. Having won a number of Eisners in the past, it seems that horror master Junji Ito has once again taken the gold and won another award for a recent anthology series that is one of the most scary series created by the manga artist. With two new anime series on the horizon, Ito has a bright and frightening future ahead.

Ito the lovean anthology series that featured stories involving, but not limited to, a mysterious woman stalking the misty streets of Japan, won the award for “Best American Release for International Materials”, and considering whom the horror mangaka was up against, it’s a real achievement. Other nominees in this category include the likes of Tatsuki Fujimoto’s Chainsaw Man and Naoya Matsumoto’s Kaiju No. 8, Toranosuke Shimada’s Robo Sapiens: Tales of Tomorrow, Tatsuya Endo Spy x Family, and Haro Aso’s Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead.

This isn’t the first time Junji Ito has won an Eisner Award, however, and the manga artist has claimed his first award for his adaptation of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein He started receiving his two additional awards for both Venus in the blind spot and Rimina.

As mentioned earlier, there are two new anime adaptations in the works of Junji Ito’s material, with Adult Swim’s Toonami continuing to work on the anime series.
