Comic-Con 2022: First Official Look at Namor in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Revealed

After months of speculation, it’s finally confirmed: Namur is coming to the MCU in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Played by Tenoch Huerta, the Sub-Mariner is set to be a major part of the upcoming Black Panther And now, we get our first official look at the character. Fans got their first look at Namor in the first trailer for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever at San Diego Comic-Con today, revealing a Namor familiar to Marvel Comics fans and containing new elements that seem to confirm rumors about the character. In the movie, Namor appears to retain aspects of his comics but has some very distinct style as well, largely in keeping with the previously leaked art. Check it out below.

Most notably the details, which all have an Aztec-like feel, suggesting that the MCU’s Atlantis Namur will be located in Central America. This not only keeps track of rumors about the character changes in the movie, but also with gifts wrapped for those involved in making Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Pictures of these items have recently surfaced on social media and appear to show Tepeyollotl, the Aztec deity of the jaguar.

Outside of this new look, there is still a lot about both Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and the role of Namur, which remains a mystery. Fans have always been expecting Namor to arrive in the MCU and some were disappointed when the character didn’t appear for a brief period in Doctor Strange in a multiverse of madness. This film featured the appearance of The Illuminati, a secret group that included Namor in the comics. But while the movie didn’t incorporate Namor into the set, screenwriter Michael Waldron teased that Marvel had bigger plans for the lovable character.

“[We] Talk about him, because he’s definitely an original member of the Illuminati,” Waldron said. But I think Marvel has other plans for it in the MCU. And so he didn’t find his way into that particular movie.”

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever It is scheduled to open in theaters on November 11.
