Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 James Gunn Teases Adam Warlock Influences

During a screening of Marvel Studios at Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday, fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe received the first shots of… Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, including First Look at Will Poulter as Adam Warlock. While fans outside of the SDCC haven’t been able to see that footage yet, Poulter’s Warlock is an eagerly awaited character to talk to. ComicBook.com’Brandon Davis, director James Jean, has whipped up some of his own comedy inspiration for direct work on the character.

“I mean, listen. I love those old Jim Starlin stuff and so there’s a lot of stuff out there, but he’s also like all the bouncers,” John said. “He came from this kind of natural world of space opera Sentinel. That’s true above all else.”

Adam Warlock is a character that Marvel fans have been waiting to see join the MCU for a long time. The character was first teased in a post-credits scene in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Fans have been expecting to see the character appear in several films since then. At one point, there was speculation that the character could appear in Avengers: Infinity War, although that wasn’t the case.

Last fall, Poulter spoke about how “fortunate and honored” he felt to be a part of the Marvel family, particularly one of Guardians of the Galaxy.

“I feel very fortunate and honored to have been welcomed into the Marvel family,” Poulter said at the time. “Especially in a franchise like Guardians of the Galaxy, which I find incredibly creative and very unique. James Gunn is someone I really respect, so I feel very lucky.”

Guardians 3 footage sees the Guardians captured by the Ravagers and Nebula reveals that they have an appointment with Gamora. Peter Quill was caught off guard. Peter reflects on their time together. “You’ve been everything to me,” he said. “I thought you were gone but you are here and I miss you.” Gamora told him that person wasn’t her. We take a first look at Adam Warlock. Big Groot fighting back to back with a feather. Shows high sophistication. The Guardians float on an alien planet. Gamora covers the trailer by calling Quill the wrong name and dismissing him. The Guardians joked on Quill to talk to her closely on an open line of communication and were listening to her the whole time. It ends up asking the mantis what we know about the missile. A shot of a very small rocket raccoon taking up the screen. Much of the trailer is set to “Do You Realize” by Flaming Lips.

In Marvel Studios “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” our beloved group of misfits looks a little different these days. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him to defend the universe while protecting one of them. A mission, if not completed successfully, could lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.”

Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3. It will be released on May 5, 2023.
