ROH World Champion Claudio Castagnoli reveals if his title win was his ‘copper ring’ moment

Death Before Dishonor’s Ring of Honor started in big style with a portion of their double main event, where ROH World Champion Jonathan Grisham faced Claudio Castagnoli, and Castagnoli would go on to become the new ROH World Champion. In the media after the event, Castagnoli thought about the win and what it meant to him, and it obviously means a lot. During his WWE days, Castagnoli (then known as Cesaro) was always talked about when Vince McMahon’s infamous brass comments were on the tour, and Liam Crowley of ComicBook.com asked if winning that title was his brass ring moment. Turns out this whole month was kind of that brassy moment.

“What a brass ring moment. If someone could figure it out and explain it to me, that would be great. I mean, it’s definitely a great moment, and I feel like life and wrestling is about moments, how you seize them. How you act on them, how you succeed in good and bad because that’s what they are.” Right trip? And everything I’ve done in my career has led to this. So, if this was a copper ring, I’d say the first month was,” Castagnoli said.

“Because she was one of those, well, how do you replace one of the best wrestlers in history in Brian Danielson. Well, I have to come forward because I don’t want people to be like ‘Eh, I’m kind of wanted, you know what I mean?'” So to be that and to be able to make it and then go to Blood & Guts for 60 minutes. For me that was a great challenge, so if that’s the crowning season, from the month of copper rings, that’s really, really good,” Castagnoli said.

Castagnoli has been on fire since his debut in AEW and ROH, and now we’ll have to wait and see who his next challenger is and what Castagnoli has in store for him. His faction teammate Brian Danielson revealed tonight that he’ll be back in the ring on Wednesday, so maybe that’s where we’ll also find out who will challenge the ROH World Championships for Castagnoli.
