She-Hulk Director teases Jennifer Walters/Champion Balance

With less than a month left before She-Hulk: Attorney at Law Marevl Studios premiered on Disney+, prominently in its panel at Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con. Marvel has revealed a new poster and new trailer for the show. ComicBook.com had a chance to talk to some of the creators behind them She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Including series creator Jessica Gao on how She-Hulk found a comfortable balance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. ComicBook.com also spoke to director Kat Cuero in the wake of the Hall H event, who spoke about how Jennifer Walter finding balance in her life is a major part of the show’s story.

“It’s about living a normal life with having these superhero powers that you didn’t ask for,” Cuero says. “And the whole series is a journey about accepting that this happened, it won’t change and you’d better make the most of it.”

Koiro went on to describe how Jane came into a position of her own throughout the series. “It’s really important for a character to maintain their sense of self,” she says. “Now that she’s presented differently as a She-Hulk, she definitely has to balance who she is, and the way you’re seen definitely affects the way you act, but it’s the same, unlike a hulk. So it’s really about staying true to herself. Through all these adventures… It’s a long and winding journey of self-acceptance and realizing that, you know, with great power…”

According to the official brief, “At Marvel Studios” She-Hulk: Attorney at LawJennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany) – a lawyer who specializes in legal cases with a superhuman orientation – must navigate the complex life of a 30-year-old who also happens to be a powerful 6-foot-7-inch green hulk.

The nine-episode comedy series features returning Marvel Cinematic Universe stars Mark Ruffalo as Smart Hulk, Tim Roth as Emil Blonsky/The Abomination, and Benedict Wong as Wong.

“What Jane and Matt Murdock clearly have in common is that they’re both lawyers, but also, uniquely, they’re both lawyers who happen to be superheroes, so they have something in common,” Gao told ComicBook.com. Matt Murdock’s relationship with Jane. “Wong is a character who is in the MCU and knows her cousin. That’s the thing that distinguishes Jen that, unlike everyone else out of the story we’re exploring, is someone who already has something like this in her family. So conceivably, she actually had to listen to all of these Things and dealing with them as a third party family member for years.”

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law It premieres on Disney+ on August 17th.
